Should you get a combi double stroller?

What’s the big deal about the combi double stroller, anyway? If you’ve ever seen or used one of these, you’ll know the answer to this question right away. For parents with twins (or parents who have two children close in age), the combi double stroller has become one of the saving graces of being a parent of two. The combi is a pretty common type (much like the double umbrella stroller) that allows the children you have to sit next to each other, instead of facing each other or in tandem (one in front of the other). This is usually quite a bit more entertaining for your children, as they can sit there and play with each other while you’re pushing them around. You also get the benefit of being able to look after them at all times. That’s a major plus, and a downright necessity when considering a stroller.

Many of the more “name brand” strollers are combis, as well. Companies such as Maclaren and Chicco are major manufacturers of this type, and have spent years developing some of the best ones on the market. They’ve taken years worth of suggestions, concerns, and tips from parents and turned those into some pretty high-end strollers. For example, if you look at a typical Maclaren offering, you’ll usually see that their strollers are made out of high-quality materials, have very few (if any) parts that can be of any danger to your child, are maneuverable in just about every situation, and best yet? They’re easily folded up and taken with you. Yes, that’s probably one of the most important considerations when getting a combi stroller; because combis tend to be rather large, you need to make sure that you get one that’ll fold up and fit in your trunk.

If you’re going on a long trip in an airplane, it’s also imperative that the stroller fit in the aircraft somewhere (generally the cargo bin). Most higher-end combis will do that quite readily, so don’t worry there.

Which stroller would I recommend for you and your family? That’s tough to say. While there are plenty of great combi double strollers on the market, you need to go out to the store and try some of them out first. See what fits your children, and especially see what fits in your trunk! If you have friends with children, you might want to consult with them as well. Why you should consider a double umbrella stroller

There are few things on this site that I’ll actually come out and say that you really need for your family. Let’s face it: Things like that double jogging stroller is pretty nice to have, but it’s not exactly a necessity. However, I will go as far as saying that a good double umbrella stroller really is a good thing to have for your children, particularly when going out on long outings in the park, in the city, at the beach, or wherever you like to take your family. This is a stroller designed for your baby’s safety, and it shouldn’t be overlooked.

Double umbrella strollers are again, great for when you either have twins, or if you have two children of stroller age. Naturally, you’ll notice that their skin is very soft and delicate. This is due to the fact that their skin hasn’t yet developed all the way to help protect them from the sun’s damaging rays. Babies can be very easily sunburned, which is quite a bit more serious than if you or I were to get sunburned. This can quickly lead to serious health problems for your child, which of course no parent wants. You need to keep your babies in the shade and out of direct sunlight when you’re outdoors.

What’s the best way to do that when you’re out and about? You guessed it: A double umbrella stroller. These types of strollers are actually the most common types that are being put out on the market today. All this is is a normal stroller with an overhang above it to keep your baby in the shade. You can find a picture of one in the bottom left section of this post. While you can still find non-umbrella types floating around, more and more manufacturers are going to the umbrella-type model due to high demand. More and more parents are realizing that their children need to be kept out of the sun. Such a stroller will do that, and then some.

The only down side to double umbrella strollers is the cost. You can find these for $200-$300 USD in places, particularly if you go for some of the higher-end stroller types like Maclaren. While not all of them are quite that expensive, remember what I said in my previous post about double strollers: You get what you pay for, and you don’t want to skimp. Make sure if you’re going for a higher-end model, you go for a reputable company that specializes in umbrella strollers.

Should you get a double jogging stroller?

After the birth of two children, many mothers tend to want to go out and get some exercise. This isn’t only because for the latter part of the pregnancy they’ve had to take it easy; no, many times mothers will put on a couple extra pounds during the pregnancy and want to burn it off before the summer bikini season! That’s quite normal, of course. So, how can you do that with children to look after? Not everyone has the ability to hire a babysitter or have someone around each time they want to go out for a jog. The solution: A double jogging stroller.

Now, I should say right now that you should probably ask your doctor before putting a newborn baby into a jogging stroller to go with you. It’s very possible that this isn’t the greatest idea until your baby is at least a few months old. An infant’s neck is quite weak and fragile until several months in, so you shouldn’t bring a one-month-old on a jog with you unless your doctor signs off on it. The jarring motion from the stroller hitting bumps could cause issues if you’re not comfortable. Again, I’m not a doctor, so please consult one before you do anything, okay? Thanks!

Once you know that both children riding in a double stroller are old enough to be in there, you may find that you can really get your workouts done much easier than before. Double jogging strollers are setup so that you can still do your jog while pushing the stroller along with you, safely and comfortably taking your children along with you. As always, you have your kids in plain view the entire time, so there’s no worrying about that. You can keep an eagle eye on them at all times, just like you should!

Where does a family go to buy double strollers, exactly? You might be asking yourself that question if you’re reading this. Well, I’m here to tell you that there are a number of places you can buy these fairly specialized strollers, both in the stores and online. Do we suggest one over the other? Well, that all comes down to price. If the price is right, feel free to pick one up at either source. That’s what really counts at the end of the day, right?

Well, not quite. More important than price when it comes to strollers for your children is build quality. Trust me, you do not want to find yourself with a cheaply made stroller just because you needed to save a buck. These are safety sensitive items; you need to be comfortable with the idea that you may need to spend a little bit of money on these things. If you’re not willing to do that, I might suggest that you go ahead and have whatever stroller you purchase be inspected by someone who knows what they’re doing. This is one of those times when safety comes above all else. Even if your budget doesn’t quite fit a really nice double stroller, make room by cutting back on some other items if you can. If there’s no room in your budget, save up for the months leading up to the delivery of the new baby. That’s usually enough time for most people to save up for such a purchase.

Now, if you really want to save money and have better build quality on your stroller, definitely look online. The internet is going to be the best place to find the best deals, hands down. This is pretty much the case with any type of merchandise, to be honest. Most normal stores tend to really kick up the price because they expect that most people won’t want to wait for their stroller to arrive via UPS or FedEx.

That impatience allows them to bring the price up, and well, people still pay it.

Buying online might be a little inconvenient due to the wait time, but overall you’re going to find the best prices there. Online stores tend to have very little overhead, meaning they can usually sell stuff for just over cost. It’s nice for people on budgets.

Okay, let’s get this thing started on the right foot. First of all, what is a double stroller anyway? A double stroller is a specialized type of stroller that’s going to be typically used for families with more than one child. This type of stroller doesn’t always have to be used with twins, of course. While that’s the most popular choice should you have twins, double strollers are very popular in the crowd of people who simply have two stroller-aged children.
